Marconi Stallions have crashed again, losing 1-0 at home last night to Rockdale City Suns.

The home side had a chance to open the scoring after just three minutes when a shot by Anthony Flood from just outside the box produced a save from Ivan Necevski, who had signed earlier in the week with Rockdale from Sydney FC.

Only three weeks ago Necevski had been farewelled by Sydney FC in front of nearly 80,000 spectators at ANZ Stadium at Olympic Park when the Sky Blues hosted Tottenham Hotspur.

Back at Bossley Park last night, 17 minutes into the clash a delightful cross by Marko Jesic from the left found an unmarked Urosevski who headed the ball into the back of the Stallions net.

In the end it was to be the only goal of the game despite both sides having plenty of scoring opportunities.

Marconi Stallions mentor Jeff Suzor was understandably disappointed with the outcome for a number of reasons.

“We were gallant in defeat because we played nearly the whole second half with 10 men,” he said.

“I thought that we were the better side and we kept pushing.

“I thought that the players were outstanding today and I can’t fault them but I thought that they were really good today after last week.”
