The NSW Criminal Groups Squad have taken over the investigation into the possible targeting of a home in St Helens Park.

Squad Commander, Detective Acting Superintendent Glyn Baker, addressed the media earlier today.

About 7.15pm on Wednesday, May 1, emergency services were called to Briggs Place in St Helens Park, following reports of shots fired into a house.

On arrival, police attached to Campbelltown Police Area Command found a house and car had been damaged.

A dark-coloured Audi sedan was seen leaving the location following the alleged shooting.

Three people were inside the home at the time, but there were no reports of injuries.

One of the occupants of the home – a 28-year-old man – is known to police through his alleged OMCG links.

About 12.40am on Monday, May 6, emergency services were called to Briggs Place in St Helens Park, following reports a car had driven into a garage roller door, before being set alight.

The garage door belonged to the house next door to the one shot at a week earlier.

The fire was extinguished by Fire & Rescue NSW, and the occupant of the home – a 70-year-old woman – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for smoke inhalation before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.

It is believed the incident was also targeted; but investigators are yet to established if it was a case of mistaken identity.

As a result of the two targeted incidents occurring in such close proximity, the matter was taken over by State Crime Command’s Criminal Groups Squad who commenced Strike Force Together to investigate.

About 1.45am today (Monday, May 13), emergency services were again called to Briggs Place in St Helens Park, following reports of a fire.

Officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command attended and found a car alight in the driveway of the home first targeted on May 1.

The suspicious fire was extinguished by Fire & Rescue NSW and no injuries were reported.

As inquiries continue, police are investigating whether all three incidents are linked.
