The who’s who of Macarthur and Liverpool attended today’s Campbelltown chamber of commerce and industry luncheon.
The three mayors of Macarthur and the council CEOs, and the Liverpool CEO Jason Breton attended the event, which was held at Ottimo House in Denham Court.
All of the local state members of parliament were also in attendance, along with representatives of business and not for profit organisations across the region.
They were welcomed to the luncheon by the current chamber president Shefali Pall, who spoke glowingly of the unity and strength of the region in seeking its fair share of infrastructure funding from the other two tiers of government.
Unfortunately, the star of the day, and keynote speaker, deputy premier of NSW Prue Car, was a no show, being unwell.
Her colleague and friend Greg Warren, the member for Campbelltown, apologised for her absence.
“I know that if Prue Car is having a day off work, she is really crook,’’ Mr Warren said.
Courtney Houssos, the NSW minister for finance, domestic manufacturing and government procurement and natural resources, filled in for Ms Car, including answering questions that had been pre-prepared for Ms Car, whose portfolios are education and early learning, and Western Sydney.
Ms Houssos said the Minns Government was aware, and had acknowledged, the needs of this growing region of Sydney.
“And I can tell you all your local MPs are champions of your area here; they’re always knocking on my door to tell me what’s needed,’’ she said.
