In what could be a sign the Minns Government has finally realised outer South Western Sydney needs more infrastructure, the region will get the lion’s share of 100 new preschools announced this week.
Time will tell if that’s the case, but local MPs certainly welcomed getting almost a 25 percent share from the $769 million preschools promise.
The 100 preschools will be built over the next three years next to existing government primary schools.
There will be six in the Campbelltown electorate, five in Leppington, also five for Liverpool, and one each in Wilton and Moss Vale. The full list is below.
“This is a fantastic announcement that will support and make a difference for young families in Campbelltown,” says the member for Campbelltown, Greg Warren, pictured above.
“Allowing more families to access high quality, early childhood public education will help children in Campbelltown and NSW get the best start in life.”
Nathan Hagarty, the Member for Leppington, also strongly welcomed the Minns Labor Government investment in public preschools, especially in his electorate.
“I am thrilled that Leppington will be home to five new public preschools,’’ Mr Hagarty said
“By co-locating preschools with primary schools, we’re simplifying life for families and setting children up for a smooth educational journey.
“This is more than an investment in schools, but an investment in our children’s futures and the future of Leppington.”
Member for Liverpool Charishma Kaliyanda said evidence shows a quality early education is an essential foundation for young children.
““This investment will bring new preschools to areas that need it most,’’ Ms Kaliyanda said.
“The Liverpool electorate is full of young families that need access to childcare. The five new preschools across my community will ensure that is the case.’’
New preschools will be built at: Ambarvale, Blairmount, Bradbury, Carnes Hill, Cartwright, Cecil Hills, Edensor Park, Eschol Park, Heckenberg, Ingleburn and Kearns, Leppington, Leumeah, Liverpool, Miller, Moss Vale, Mount Pritchard, Raby, Ruse, St Helens Park and Wilton.
