Stronger Communities Program grant: MP Chris Hayes with Grace Fava, the president of the Austism Advisory & Support Service, which covers the entire South West region, including Macarthur.

A lot of south west Sydney community groups are very happy after being told their bids for funding got the green light.

Local MP Chris Hayes has announced a total of $260,000 in Stronger Communities Program grant funding and he says there’s more to come.

“Last year I wrote to all community groups and encouraged them to apply and the response has been extraordinary,’’ he said this week.

“These organisations provide much needed services and this money will go a long way to assisting them with much needed funds.”

Most of the community groups will use the money to upgrade and improve their services and operations.

The Autism Advisory & Support Service (AASS) received $5,000 which will go towards an upgrade of their computers.

Its president, Grace Fava, said: “This grant will help AASS to continue to expand our service to better assist more families living with autism.

“We are grateful to Chris Hayes for his continued support and encouragement.’’
