Police have appealed to the public for information after a man was shot in the leg three times last night.
This morning, Assistant Superintendent Robert Danks, of Camden Police Area Command, held a media conference outside Narellan Police Station calling on anyone who saw anything to come forward.
The incident took place at Carnelian Street, Leppington.
Around 9pm emergency services, including police officers, received reports that shots had been fired in the vicinity of the location.
On arrival, officers attached to Camden Police Area Command found a 28-year-old man suffering three gunshot wounds to his leg.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to hospital in a stable condition. His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.
Detectives from Camden, with assistance from officers attached to Campbelltown Police, and the State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad, conducted an extensive search of the area.
A short time later, emergency services attended Nettletree Street, Casula, following reports of a burnt-out vehicle. An investigation is under way to determine if the vehicle is linked to the shooting.
Crime scenes have been established at both locations, which are being forensically examined by specialist police.
Initial inquiries suggest the attack may have been targeted.
As inquiries continue, police are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au.
