NSW Labor is calling on the NSW Government to urgently increase the capacity for Covid-19 testing throughout the state, including here in Campbelltown.

Case numbers continue to climb each day, much to the frustration of those who have been turned away from testing clinics.

In the 24 hours to 8pm last night more than 12,000 people had tested positive across the state. There were almost 100,000 tests in the period.

Shadow minister for Western Sydney and Member for Campbelltown, Greg Warren, said the people of Campbelltown and the wider Macarthur region were paying the price for the NSW Government’s lack of foresight.

“Testing clinics in Campbelltown and the wider Macarthur region have been overrun and they simply cannot keep up with the increase in demand,” said Mr Warren, who is pictured outside Campbelltown Hospital.

“It beggars belief that the government failed to increase testing capacity to ensure those who needed a test could get one in a timely manner.

“It’s just the latest in a long line of failures from the NSW Liberals since the initial Covid-19 outbreak,” Mr Warren said.

His colleague, the shadow minister for health, Ryan Park, said it was ludicrous that the NSW Government had not increased the capacity of testing clinics.

“Thousands of NSW residents are going out and doing the right thing in trying to get tested, to keep themselves and their communities safe,” Mr Park said.

“The government must make sure that the resources are available to make this possible for everyone.

“Testing is a key way to provide peace of mind and ensure people can enjoy Christmas and the holidays as safely as possible.

“It must be a priority of the Liberal-National Government to increase testing facilities across our state.”

  1. It is a total failure of NSW Government in the manner in which they have failed the people of NSW with the way they have mismanagement Covid

They expect people to follow self isolation when they have Covid like symptoms but do not provide the availability to be tested

They keep saying live with Covid so how about the NSW Government put in place the infrastructure to allow the people of NSW to live with Covid

The NSW Government inclusive should resign as they have let the people of NSW down

  2. The answer is to be vaccinated, quite simple really. The Government did not invent Covid, nor did they have any precedents to help them manage it. The authorities and the doctors have been “learning on the run”. Yes, most of us are finding it difficult and frustrating, but that is life.
