Playgrounds across Campbelltown will offer protection from the sun after the installation of new shade sails at seven local parks.
Digger Black Reserve, Ingleburn, Eschol Park Sports Complex, Eschol Park, Kenny Reserve, Bradbury, Lorraine Cibilic Reserve, Woodbine, Macquarie Fields Park, Macquarie Fields, Rizal Park, Rosemeadow and Hallinan Park, Ingleburn will be the coolest places in Campbelltown in summer.
The installation of new shade sails is part of the wider $2.4 million city amenity and appeal program which includes investment to improve public spaces and a city cleaning program targeting the Campbelltown and Ingleburn CBDs.
Mayor George Greiss says the shade sails were placed at parks that were popular during the warmer times of the year.
“It’s important that our playgrounds are accessible all year round so that families can get outdoors and enjoy our great public spaces in Campbelltown,” said Cr Greiss, who is pictured above at Eschol Park Sports Complex.

In other council news, entries are now open for children to submit a creative artwork or short story in the annual Threatened Species Art and Writing competition.
Celebrating the amazing diversity of the Macarthur region’s plants and animals, the competition is open to children ages 5 to 12 from across the Campbelltown, Camden and Wollondilly areas.
“We are fortunate to have a variety of plant and animal species in our region that contribute to a valuable ecosystem,” Mayor Greiss said.
“This competition is important to help educate and encourage children to take an interest in preserving our flora and fauna while also showcasing their artistic and writing talent to the wider community.’’
Artworks and creative writing pieces must feature a local endangered plant or animal from the Macarthur region.
Teachers and parents can also access a resource kit to help students participate in the competition.
Entries close on August 4. To learn more about the competition and to submit an entry, visit the council website.
