A delegation from Koshigaya City Office in Japan will visit Campbelltown as part of the 2014 Festival of Fisher’s Ghost celebrations, with the Street Parade set to reflect the 30-year anniversary of the two cities’ long-standing Sister City relationship.
Participants are encouraged to theme their parade entries Japanese, or reflect the legend of Fisher’s Ghost, in an effort to extend a warm Campbelltown welcome to our special visitors.
The Street Parade will make its way along Queen Street on Saturday, November 1, from 1.30pm. The parade is a highlight of Campbelltown City Council’s annual Festival of Fisher’s Ghost celebrations, which will be held from October 30 to November 9.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Lake, said it would be an honour to have the delegation from Koshigaya visit Campbelltown at such a special time for our city.
“The Street Parade will showcase Campbelltown’s vibrancy and diversity, and give our visitors a taste of what our city’s festival spirit is all about,” Cr Lake said.
“Thirty years is a fantastic milestone, and testament of our two cities’ enduring friendship. Campbelltown is proud of its Sister City relationship – one of the longest and most successful in Australia.
“There are many strong connections between our two cities, whether through the exchange programs we share or through places of interest named in honour of each city. It is these links between Campbelltown and Koshigaya that unite our two cities beyond the realm of local government, and the Street Parade will be a fabulous opportunity to acknowledge the strength of our ongoing relationship,” Cr Lake added.
Highlights of the festival that has something for everyone will include:
