Service NSW Centre now even further away if you go by bus

Route changes blasted: Local MP Greg Warren with opposition transport spokesperson Jodi McKay at the Campbelltown bus interchange.

Greg Warren says recent changes to the 896 bus route between Oran Park and Campbelltown have seemingly achieved the impossible – making it even harder for Campbelltown residents to access the Service NSW Centre at Gregory Hills.

The Member for Campbelltown points out that under the old route, a Service NSW customer could board a bus at Campbelltown Station and disembark approximately 30 minutes later at the closest bus stop to the Service NSW centre – several hundred metres away at the intersection of Camden Valley Way and Oran Park Drive.

However, under the new route, Service NSW customers will now be forced to either travel to Narellan and change to the 841 service, or disembark the 896 at the intersection of Camden Valley Way and Sir Warwick Fairfax Drive – more than 1,200 metres from the Service NSW centre.

Following the closure of the RMS offices at Campbelltown, Ingleburn and Narellan in November 2015, complaints about the lack of public transport access to the Service NSW centre at Gregory Hills have been ignored by the Berejiklian Government, says Mr Warren.

“You wouldn’t have thought it was possible, but somehow the Liberal Government have managed to make life even harder for Campbelltown residents trying to get to the Service NSW centre,’’ he said.

[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“As if it wasn’t bad enough that they closed our motor registry and moved it out to Gregory Hills, they’ve now come in and cut the only direct bus service between Campbelltown and Gregory Hills.[/social_quote]

“Not everyone needing to go to Service NSW has a car – whether it’s a pensioner getting their Seniors Card, someone with a disability getting their Photo ID card or anyone else that doesn’t have a car, the lack of public transport access to the Service NSW centre at Gregory Hills is a major problem.

“The government needs to fix this immediately and ensure that residents in Campbelltown are able to access the Service NSW easily, affordably and conveniently.”
