September means festival time in Camden, with a stack of events on the menu in 2023.

Major festival events such as Unlock Camden, Picnic in the Park, Kids Fun Day and Taste Camden will all make a welcome return.

At Unlock Camden this Saturday, September 2, Camden’s historic past will be unlocked through a number of heritage walking tours, vintage cars on display, garden games and much more throughout the area.

On Sunday, September 10, locals and visitors will descend onto picturesque Macarthur Park, Camden for Picnic in the Park.

Soaking up the spring time air, attendees will enjoy garden games, kids activities, live music and delicious food.

Later that week, on Wednesday, September 13, pre-school aged children will have a blast at the family friendly Kids Fun Day at Perich Park, Oran Park where JJ from Cocomelon will be the special guest.

Kids will have the opportunity to Sing ‘n’ Play and Dance with JJ from 10am-2pm.

First a YouTube channel and later a television series, Cocomelon helps kids learn letters, numbers, animal sounds and more with the star JJ singing nursery rhymes for the whole family.

At Kids Fun Day, which is targeted at children aged 0-5, families will also be able to enjoy free face painting, kids soft play equipment, stalls, a free sausage sizzle and more.

“We know how much the little ones love Cocomelon and we’re so excited JJ will be joining us at Kids Fun Day,” says Mayor of Camden, Cr Ashleigh Cagney.

“I look forward to seeing families from the Camden area and beyond there for a great time.”

Ending the festival’s major event schedule will be the signature event – Taste Camden.

On offer will be an abundance of food and drink from vendors cooking up cuisines from all over the world.

There’ll also be cooking demonstrations from celebrity chefs, a licensed bar and music performances.
