Small business owners in Campbelltown who are ready to break out of the home office set up can apply for a business scholarship to help them take the next step in their entrepreneurial journey.

But you’d better hurry: applications for the Campbelltown Council Business Scholarships are open until August 11.

Run in partnership with Business Development Centre Macarthur, the program provides selected businesses with specialised business growth/development training, access to professional support services, one on one mentoring and access to the centre’s collaboration workspace.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic says the program benefits the local economy.

“Small businesses are a vital part of the local economy in both Campbelltown and the wider Macarthur region,” he said.

“Council is helping small businesses to thrive which will enable them to expand their offerings and employ more people locally in the future.”

Going up a step: Campbelltown Business Scholarship recipients Sean Donovan, Stan Campbell, Mahesh Trivedi and Tim Weston with Macarthur Business Development Centre CEO Geoff Ellis (standing).

Geoff Ellis, the CEO of Business Development Centre Macarthur said the first year of the scholarship program had been a success.

“Council’s support for this program has been amazing because they’ve recognised the opportunity and worked with us to develop it,” Mr Ellis said.

“Without council’s support, this scholarship wouldn’t exist; we’ve built this together from scratch” he said.

“We’ve taken the learnings from the first group to come through and will apply that in the next program to come through.”

The first group of Campbelltown Council Business Scholarships, which began in March, saw four local small business owners come through the program.

Previous scholarship recipient Mahesh Trivedi of Steam Executive encouraged other small businesses to apply.

“I got a lot out of this program, there is a lot of shared learning and you have the opportunity to connect with other small businesses and find out what has worked for them,” said Mr Trivedi.

Successful applicants will be informed between 20 and 22 August and the program begins on September 6.
