Member for Weriwa Anne Stanley says the Albanese Government is making a significant investment in improving road safety.
Ms Stanley was speaking after four black spots in her electorate received funding to make them safer.
“It is great to see several projects in Werriwa receive the funding needed to ensure a safer journey for the many residents who use the road,’’ she said.
“The Albanese Government will continue to work with state, territory and local governments to deliver even more critical road safety upgrades in the future.”
Funding will be received for:
Wonga Road between Webster Road and Reilly Street, Lurnea, $150,851 for the installation of traffic calming devices and a pedestrian refuge;
Leacocks Lane between the Hume Highway and Kendall Drive, $90,670 for the installation of edge line marking and raised threshold;
Bardia Avenue at Macdonald Road (pictured above), $274,120 for installation of a speed hump on approaches to the roundabout;
Jedda Road between Ash Road and Powdrill Road, Prestons, $282,231 for the installation of traffic calming devices.
The projects were recommended by the NSW Black Spot Consultative Panel.
This panel is comprised of local stakeholders to ensure nominations of the highest priority and importance to the local community are recommended for approval.
Anyone can nominate a Black Spot for consideration, including individuals, community groups and local councils.
