Goal: Fans are in for a treat over the next few months when the Wanderers play their AFC Champions League home matches here at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

Local football fans are in for a treat in coming months, with some of the best teams from across Asia set to take to the turf at Campbelltown Sports Stadium, as part of the AFC Champions League.

The Western Sydney Wanderers became the first Australian team to win the competition in 2014, and will this year play their three group stage games at the stadium, bringing world class football to our doorstep.

Indeed the first home game is just seven days away.

The Red & Black will take on Japanese football giants the Urawa Red Diamonds a week from today on Tuesday, February 21.

The second AFC Champions League home game at Campbelltown will be on April 11 when the Wanderers will host FC Seoul.

About four weeks later on May 10 Shanghai SIPG will be the Wanderers opponent at Campbelltown.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, welcomed the Wanderers back to Campbelltown Sports Stadium, saying he hoped their success at the venue would continue with their AFC Champions League matches.

“The AFC Champions League brings together the best teams from throughout Asia, and beyond.

“Having three of those matches played in Campbelltown is a major coup for our city,” he said.

“These matches will attract not only local fans, like myself, who are excited to see football of this quality played right on our doorstep, but passionate fans from across the state who won’t pass up the opportunity to soak up the live atmosphere on game day.

“The Wanderers’ AFC Champions League matches will also allow Campbelltown City Council to showcase our stadium – an excellent facility, with easy public transport access and ample parking – on an international stage.”

The Wanderers versus Urawa Red Diamonds match kicks off at 8pm.

Ticket prices for individual matches range from juniors $20.31 to adults $34.08 (red reserved seating), juniors $16.23 to adults $27.45 (black reserved seating), and juniors $12.16 to adults $22.86 (general admission).

Tickets are on sale through ticketmaster.com.au or on game day at the gate.
