Riverfest is on Saturday, August 29 and promises to be a lot of fun – and educational.

The annual Riverfest day is already a must attend event in the local calendar but this year’s edition has more “super’’ attractions than ever before.

That’s right – the mighty Marvel Avengers and other colourful characters will feature in a super fun-tastic line-up of performers at Campbelltown City Council’s 2015 Riverfest celebration.

This year’s festival will again be held in Koshigaya Park on Saturday, August 29 from 11am to 3pm.

Riverfest is an annual event that raises awareness of environmental sustainability and cultural diversity by inspiring residents with a range of workshops, stalls and cultural performances.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Lake, said that although Riverfest was a lot of fun, promoting sustainability and encouraging residents to take an active role in the future of their city were important objectives.

[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“It’s an opportunity to think about how we can continue to enhance the diversity of our city and help ensure that Campbelltown remains a great place to live,” Cr Lake said.[/social_quote]

• Bring the kids and make some awesome superhero masks and X-ray vision goggles with the team from Reverse Garbage.

• Entertain young environmentalists with a performance by The Marvel Avengers featuring Captain America, Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk, who will combat evil to protect the ozone layer and save the planet, or inspire budding gardeners with an interactive stage show hosted by Madam Mulch and the Great Fertiliso.

Riverfest15bYoung festival goers also can embark on the Riverfest Discovery Trail and complete fun quizzes and cool activities to collect stamps.

Participation is free, but all Discovery Trail adventurers will need a Riverfest Passport to be in the running to win great prizes.

Visit Campbelltown City Council’s information stall on the day for a passport and all the details.

With international food stalls and lively cultural performances, there is something for everyone, young and old.

Sydney Water will support the event by providing portable water refill units so festival goers can do the right thing for the environment.

Be sure to bring along your favourite drink bottle and do your bit for the planet!

Riverfest is coordinated by Campbelltown City Council in association with the National Parks Association and Macarthur Diversity Services Initiative.
