Riverfest is on this Saturday at Koshigaya Park

Get up close to your favourite reptiles, have fun crafting with garbage or use your pedal power to mix a smoothie.

It sounds like the bar’s set high but it’s all possible at this year’s Riverfest, the festival that celebrates Campbelltown’s natural environment and cultural diversity.

This year’s festival will be held at Koshigaya Park this Saturday, August 29 from 11am to 3pm.

Aim of the festival aims to raise awareness of environmental sustainability and diverse communities by inspiring residents with a range of workshops, stalls and cultural performances.

Discover where your food comes from, learn a traditional Kurdish dance, or get scientific and make your own mini water cycle.

There’s something for everyone to enjoy at this free, family friendly event, from super fun, superhero entertainment to delicious food from around the world.

There will be lots of ecofriendly ideas and competitions to inspire – you could even win a worm farm.

Get all the information on this year’s Macarthur Nature Photography competition, which will be launched on the day, and find out how you can be in the running for great prizes.

Kids can follow the Discovery Trail and test their knowledge with fun activities and puzzles. Participation is free, but all Discovery Trail adventurers will need a Riverfest Passport to be in the running to win some fabulous prizes. Visit Campbelltown City Council’s information stall on the day for a passport and all the details.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Lake, said Riverfest highlighted Campbelltown’s diverse natural and cultural landscape.

[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“Riverfest celebrates the wonderful mix of cultures that call Campbelltown home, while acknowledging the need to promote sustainable practices to ensure the health of our local environment.[/social_quote]

“It’s a great day out, but there is also a message about sustainability and taking responsibility for the future to ensure that Campbelltown remains a great place to live,” Cr Lake said

Riverfest is coordinated by Campbelltown City Council in association with Channel 9, National Parks Association of NSW and Macarthur Diversity Services Initiative.

Sydney Water will support the event by providing portable water refill units so festival goers can stay hydrated and do the right thing for the environment. Be sure to bring along your favourite drink bottle and do your bit for the planet!
