If you’re looking for a fun day out where you’ll have a chance to participate in unique experiences, discover new things, be inspired by a host of workshops and displays, and indulge in tasty delights, mark Campbelltown City Council’s annual Riverfest on the calendar.
Coming up on Saturday, August 26, Riverfest is held at Koshigaya Park from 11am to 3pm, and celebrates our city’s cultural diversity and the environment.
Each year, thousands of people come together to enjoy four hours of stage and roaming entertainment, including dancers, singers and musicians from a variety of cultures.
There’ll be tasty delights from all corners of the globe, and the opportunity for locals to immerse themselves in the festival’s multicultural and environmental themes at hands-on workshops and activities.
Meet Shellie the Mermaid, who’s on a quest to save our oceans and waterways from plastic waste; the weird and wonderful creatures of the Get Wild Animal Experience Show; and the Rubbish Pirates, encouraging us to recycle, reuse, reduce and rethink decreasing the amount of rubbish that ends up as landfill.
Kids can also participate in the Discovery Trail by grabbing a copy of the Riverfest passport and visiting stalls to complete a range of fun activities, collecting passport stamps along the way and going into the draw to share in great prizes.
Deputy Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Meg Oates, said Riverfest was a unique family event, combining non-stop entertainment and new culinary experiences, with opportunities to learn about sustainable living and get involved in hands-on activities.
[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“Riverfest is a great celebration of Campbelltown’s cultural diversity and abundant natural assets, and council encourages the entire community to join in the celebration, connect with your fellow residents, learn more about different cultures, and be inspired by sustainable living workshops and activities,” she said.[/social_quote]
Riverfest is coordinated by council in association with the National Parks Association and Macarthur Diversity Services Initiative.
