South West Sydney clubs Macarthur Rams and Sydney United 58 have progressed to round six of Australian soccer’s version of the English FA Cup – FFA Cup.

This is the second year of the new competition, after a very successful launch last year.

In the south west, while Rams and United are still alive in the FFA Cup mark II, there were some casualties from round 5 clashes played last night.

Both Bonnyrigg White Eagles and Mounties Wanderers were eliminated and will now have to bide their time for mark III of the Cup competition.

It was a hard fought battle at Pluim Park as National Premier Leagues Men’s 2 side Macarthur Rams did it tough in defeating Central Coast Association side Gosford City FC 2-1.

At Sydney United Sports Centre, Sydney United 58 took on Parramatta FC only two days after defeating Frank Cosentino’s men in the NPL NSW Men’s 1 competition.

In what must’ve felt like deja vu for Parramatta, another early goal for Sydney United, this time a tap in for Michael Cindric in the 7th minute was enough for the Reds to progress.

NPL 1 side Sydney Olympic met NPL 2 team and Cup specialists Mounties Wanderers at Belmore Sports Ground and it was the home team that took the win with minimal fuss as Dimitri Hatzimouratis and Harris Gaitatzis gave Olympic a 2-0 half time lead before Go Shirai added a third.
