Having reached the $3 million mark in its 10 year, the 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer Macarthur has launched its 11th year by saying that this fundraising milestone is only the beginning.
Chairman Fred Borg told guests at the launch, held at Clintons Toyota Blaxland Road showroom, that the “finishing line is still very far away’’.
“Three million dollars is only the beginning,’’ Mr Borg said.
Members of the committee and sponsors attended the midday launch on Friday.
Guests included Fight Against Cancer Macarthur patron, Campbelltown mayor Paul Lake, local MPs Greg Warren and Anoulack Chanthivong, the president of the Campbelltown chamber of commerce Rick Fitzpatrick and many others.
Mr Borg praised the tireless work of the committee.
“I take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your commitment, dedication and the many hours of hard work.’’
The Fight Against Cancer Macarthur exceeded the $3 million mark after raising more than $265,000 during last year’s campaign, its tenth.

“This will benefit patients with cancer attending the Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centre, the oncology ward, the paediatric ambulatory unit and the palliative care ward.’’
Mr Borg also welcome aboard new sponsors Wests Leagues, Rapid Relief Team, Event Cinemas Campbelltown, Rick Fitzpatrick Accounting Group, Narellan Hotel and Tabcorp Menangle.
This year’s 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer weekend will be held on October 17-18 at its “home’’, the Campbelltown Athletics Stadium.
Supporting events, usually run by sponsors, will include the Paul Nunnari School Push on September 11, the Hollylea Road Festival on September 12 and the Gabe O’Flaherty Memorial golf day on July 20.
