A wonderful persona: Raewyn in her younger days, and below, enjoying a holiday after her Campbelltown Council career ended.

Former Director of Community and Cultural Services for Campbelltown City Council, Raewyn Sinclair-Kydd, passed away last Friday, October 9, following an accident at home.

A Campbelltown local for 40 years, Raewyn was known for her tiny stature and huge character.

During Raewyn’s time with the Council, she was instrumental in the development of the new Campbelltown Library, the Art Gallery and the restoration of Quondong, which is being used as the tourist information centre.

Raewyn enjoyed an excellent working relationship with the then General Manager Ian Porter, who once remarked that whenever she approached him with a smile, he felt it easier to capitulate immediately as it would save time in the long run.

Raewyn and her husband Ron were two of the original Kentlyn residents, building their home from scratch in the leafy surrounds.

Raewyn enjoyed nothing more than a meander down to the Georges River, along one of the Kentlyn walking trails.

Survived by her husband Ron and children Ewen, Shona, Robert and Rennie, Raewyn’s legendary hospitality, keen wit and gentle spirit will be sorely missed by all.

raewyntwoA testament to the courage she was known for, Raewyn amazed medical staff by holding on until her daughter Shona was able to fly back from London to be by her side.

Raewyn passed away surrounded by family at Liverpool Hospital.

♦ A celebration of Raewyn’s life will be held from 4pm at the Campbelltown Arts Centre this Friday, October 16, 2015.
