A huge range of family friendly entertainment will be on offer at the official opening of Oran Park library this Saturday, June 30.
The grand opening celebration and free family fun day will be open to the public between 10am to 3pm.
There will be a motor racing theme to celebrate the history of Oran Park, including the racing car of local driver, Tim Brook.
“We have been looking forward to the opening day for some time, and hope residents will join us in the celebrations and make good use of the new facility,’’ says Camden mayor Lara Symkowiak.
“This facility will support existing and future communities with lifelong learning opportunities and a place to socialise and interact well into the future.
“It is an innovative, creative space and stands as an example of how Camden is evolving, and the great spaces we are producing,” Cr Symkowiak said.
The Oran Park library project was delivered under a voluntary planning agreement between Camden Council, Greenfields Development Company and Landcom.
As well as the official opening at 11am at Oran Park Library, the day will include:
- Kids mini car racing track;
- Racing car photo booth;
- Food stalls;
- Roving performers;
- Library tours;
- Craft workshops;
- Cupcake decorating;
- Jumping castle;
- Giant garden games;

In other Camden news, the culture and history of Indigenous Australians will be honoured with a special NAIDOC week flag raising and celebratory event on July 10.
The free family fun day will be held at the Camden Council administration building on Central Avenue Oran Park.
The flag raising ceremony at 10.30am will be followed by performances, bush tucker and traditional Indigenous games and activities.
Morning tea and lunch will be provided.
Mayor Symkowiak said everyone was invited to join in the celebration.
“Each year NAIDOC celebrations are held across the nation during July, and Camden Council is proud to continue this tradition and host an event to honour our Indigenous community,” Cr Symkowiak said.
“This is a great chance to bring our residents together, learn more about the history of our Indigenous people and recognise their contributions to our community and to Australia.”
