Local boy Jake McGing will remain a Bull for another season after putting pen to paper on a new contract with Macarthur FC.
Having grown up at Raby, a stone’s throw from Campbelltown Sports Stadium, McGing says it’s a great feeling to be playing in his backyard.
And he’s almost a club “veteran’’ having been a Bull since the inaugural Macarthur FC squad was revealed in 2020.
No wonder McGing had no hesitation in extending his stay with Macarthur.
The 29-year-old defender says he is determined to deliver success to fans in South Western Sydney.
“It’s a great feeling to have re-signed,’’ McGing said.
“I have been at the club since the start and I want to see the club progress, being a local boy.
“I want to make the people of the Macarthur region proud.’’
In announcing his new deal, the defender credited the leadership of head coach Mile Sterjovski and the atmosphere within the dressing room as major influences in his decision to remain a Bull.
“Mile was definitely a big reason for me re-signing. I really like his coaching style and the way he is as a person as well,’’ McGing said.
“That was a big factor in my decision to re-sign,’’ McGing said.
“The group we have, they’re a top bunch of lads so I’m really looking forward to next season with this team.’’
Equally adept at right back or as a central defender, McGing’s qualities were praised by Sterjovski, who is pleased to have the defender on board for another season.
“Jake is a consistent and reliable defender who adds a lot of experience to our backline. We are very pleased to have him re-sign with the Bulls for another year,’’ Sterjovski said.
