A man, a woman and two teenagers have been charged following a police pursuit in Campbelltown overnight.
Officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Command were patrolling the Moore Oxley bypass, Campbelltown around midnight when they detected a stolen Ford Ranger.
The vehicle had been involved in two earlier pursuits overnight at Manly and Kings Cross. Both earlier pursuits were terminated due to the manner of driving.
When officers again attempted to stop the vehicle at Campbelltown, it failed to comply, and a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit went through the suburbs of Airds, St Helens Park, Rosemeadow, Narellan, Willowdale and Denham Court.
On Campbelltown Road, road spikes were successfully deployed.
The vehicle stopped in Ben Lomond Road, Minto where it has then allegedly rammed a marked police car, with officers sustaining minor injuries which did not require treatment.
The driver, a 17-year-old male, left the scene and was arrested during a foot pursuit in Kent Street, Minto.
The other five occupants were arrested at the scene. All six were taken to Campbelltown Police Station.
The 17-year-old alleged driver was charged with five offences: drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, learner unaccompanied, police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly (two counts), illegal use and conveyance and use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at a children’s court on September 23.
An 18-year-old male passenger and an 18-year-old female passenger were charged with being carried in conveyance. They were both granted conditional bail to appear in Campbelltown Local Court on September 26.
A 14-year-old girl was charged with being carried in conveyance and will appear at a children’s court on September 23.
A 15-year-old male passenger and a 17-year-old male passenger were released without charge and will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
Enquiries into the incident are continuing.
