You decided that you want to volunteer your time, but what do you do next? One way is by attending events like Camden Council’s volunteer expo, which is returning for its second year next month.

The expo offers a fantastic opportunity for the community to explore local volunteering opportunities and connect with volunteer-driven organisations in person.

[The food trucks and face painting also on offer at this expo are just the icing on the cake.]

This year’s event, which is sponsored by NSW Resilience, will also highlight spontaneous volunteering and the vital role of community support in disaster relief and emergency situations.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Ashleigh Cagney, said this year’s event would be even bigger and better than the successful event of 2024.

“If you’re looking for a way to contribute and give back to your local community but don’t know where to start, this expo is for you,” she said.

“Come along to learn more about the various benefits of volunteering, as well as all the different ways you can get involved. There’s a volunteering opportunity for everyone.

“It’s no secret that we, at council, believe those who volunteer are the backbone of our community. We have 327 volunteers registered with council, whose dedication and hard work across areas like bush care, libraries and reference groups has been truly immeasurable.

“I think the Camden area is the best place to live, work and visit. And when I think about all the great things this area has to offer, it’s clear that it wouldn’t be possible without their tireless work and fierce dedication to Camden.

“It would be an honour to add more people to this incredible team.”

Th 2025 expo will take place on Saturday, August 30, 10am-2pm, in the Julia Reserve Community Centre.
