Man has finger bitten off during wedding altercation

Police have arrested and charged a 42 year old man after another man had the tip of his finger bitten off during an altercation at a licensed premises in Campbelltown last night (Saturday, July 1).

And in a separate incident, a 19 year old man had to be rushed to Liverpool Hospital after police officers used capsicum spray to stop a fight with another man outside the same licensed premises on Railway Street.

Just after 9.30pm police were called to the licensed premises following reports of a man being disruptive while a wedding reception was taking place in the Chinese restaurant section of Court Tavern.

Police say they were told that a 42-year-old man had allegedly attempted to steal handbags off a table at the location when he was confronted by a 47-year-old man.

There was an altercation between the men and other patrons during which it is alleged the 47-year-old man had the tip of his finger bitten off.

Officers from Campbelltown Local Area Command attended the location and arrested the 42-year-old man.

He was taken to Campbelltown Police Station and was later charged with reckless grievous bodily harm. He is due to appear in Campbelltown Local Court later today.

The 47-year-old man was taken to Liverpool hospital for treatment.

While attending to this incident on Saturday night, police officers were made aware that outside the premises a fight was taking place between two men aged 20 and 19.

Officers intervened to break up the fight and deployed capsicum spray on both men.

NSW Ambulance Paramedics attended the location and treated both the men.

However the 19-year-old man was taken to Liverpool Hospital for further treatment after becoming unconscious for a short time.
