The Festival of Fisher’s Ghost is just around the corner and Campbelltown City Council will host a series of pop up events at Macarthur Square to get locals in the spirit for the town’s largest and longest running community event.
This year’s theme is Ghosts, Ghouls and Graveyards and visitors to the pop up events Kellicar Lane over four consecutive Thursdays, from October 6, between 4pm and 9pm, will get a sneak peek of what’s in store at this year’s festival.
There’ll be lots to enjoy, including music sets by Fisher’s Gig performers, giveaways, the chance to win tickets to Fred’s First Night – an exclusive VIP event offering unlimited rides at the Fisher’s Ghost Carnival before it opens to the public – and maybe even a visit from the ghost himself!
Visitors will be treated to a different theme at each week’s pop up:
• A ghostly outdoor movie theme this Thursday, October 6 will get the crowd in the mood for Fisher’s Flicks. There’ll be bean bags, popcorn and a colouring competition giving children the chance to win a family pass to the VIP area at Fisher’s Flicks on November 11. You’ll also have a chance to sprint to it and enter this year’s Fisher’s Ghost Fun Run on November 13, with event organisers on site to help with the easy online entry.
• On Thursday, October 13, a mini gig will give music lovers the chance to hear from some of the talented musicians and performers who’ll be part of the line up for the Fisher’s Gig youth music festival on November 5.
• Immerse yourself in the festival atmosphere when Kellicar Lane transforms on Thursday, October 20, with giveaways, selfies with Fred, competitions and a Ghosts and Ghouls Glamour face painting booth where visitors can get a taste for the parade theme.
• Don’t get spooked when you check out Council’s Ghosts, Ghouls and Graveyards stall at the carnival inspired activity on Thursday, October 27. Prizes, fairy floss and free passes to the Carnival will be up for grabs.
Plus, as a warm-up for Fisher’s Kids which will be held on November 6, Campbelltown Arts Centre will host The Itchy Glitchy Jungle Jam – a musical collage workshop – at Macarthur Square’s Centre Court on Level 2 this Thursday, October 6 from 11am to 2pm.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, said the pop-up activities at Macarthur Square were an excellent way to find out about the many spooky events which will be held as part of the Festival of Fisher’s Ghost.
“Thanks to Macarthur Square for getting on board to support the festival with this exciting new initiative,’’ Cr Brticevic said.
“The festival is again shaping up to be lots of fun, so make sure you experience as many of the activities as you can,” he said.
The 2016 Festival of Fisher’s Ghost will run from November 4 to 13.
