Peak services on the South West Rail Link will be doubled by the end of the year.
This will give local commuters better access to more destinations across Sydney.
The $2.1 billion South West Rail Link opened eight months ago earlier this year.
Already there are more than 1,500 train journeys every weekday from the new stations at Leppington and Edmondson Park.
Holsworthy State MP Melanie Gibbons and transport minister Andrew Constance last week revealed details of the extra services on the line.
“This announcement is a win for customers with twice as many services in the peak period, and integration into the wider train network taking them to where they want to go,” Ms Gibbons said.
“In the peak hour, the frequency of trains from the South West will double, from a train every 30 minutes to one every 15 minutes.
“For the first time locals will be able to get a direct service to the city, with better access to employment hubs like Parramatta and Liverpool.
“People have been very patient whilst we analyse the Opal card data to get the right connections, via Liverpool and Granville.
“I know this will make a huge difference in getting our local commuters to and from work without such long waits between connections.”
