budyariBudyari Community Health Centre in Miller has recently undergone a $280,000 renovation to support improved patient care.

A morning tea and celebrations will be held this Monday, November 9 to re-open the centre.

Budyari is a unique resource that operates as a Community Health Centre with a focus on dedicated Aboriginal health.

After three months of renovations, the Budyari Community Health Centre will celebrate its reopening from 10am with an overview of its history, a smoking ceremony, acknowledgement of country, tour of the facility and Aboriginal dance performance.

SWSLHD district director of Aboriginal health, Nathan Jones, said the facility now has five consultation rooms which will provide an opportunity to increase the number of clinical services delivered from the premises.

Other upgrades to the community health centre in Miller include improved bathrooms, air conditioning system and furniture.

“We have identified the health needs of our community and are able to treat patients with cardiovascular diseases, kidney disease, diabetes and other debilitating illnesses as well as regular GP visits,” he said.

Budyari centre manager Leslie Jenkins said the centre is a place where patients feel comfortable returning for treatment by doctors and nurses who know them and their medical histories.

“What we try to provide is holistic care for the patient, so that when you go into the clinic, you know the person who is taking care of you,” Mr Jenkins said.
