policedinkusTwo men have been charged after firearms and drugs were seized in Narellan over the weekend.

Officers from Camden Local Are Command observed two women hiding behind a fence at an industrial complex on Graham Hill Road.

Shortly after, a man approached the women and allegedly handed them a firearm, before they got into a vehicle to leave the location.

Officers stopped the vehicle, arresting the women – aged 31 and 16 – and seized a single-shot air rifle.

A 46-year-old Cartwright man – who was known to the women – was arrested at a nearby industrial unit and the trio were taken to Narellan Police Station.

The man was charged with possessing an unregistered firearm and will appear at Picton Local Court on April 12.

Both women were released pending further inquiries.

While at the location, police spoke with a tenant of another unit, another 46-year-old man.

As a result of their inquiries, a search warrant was executed at the unit by police from Campbelltown Local Area Command, with the assistance of the Public Order and Riot Squad.

Police located and seized a BB gun with pellets, amphetamines and MDMA.

The Harrington Park man was also taken to Narellan Police Station and charged with possessing an unregistered firearm (prohibited), having ammunition without a licence, two counts of supplying a prohibited drug, and five counts of possessing a prohibited drug.

Just after 11.30pm on Saturday, police officers attempted to stop a Hyundai TQ van on Narellan Road, Campbelltown, for a roadside drug and alcohol test.

It’s alleged the 26-year-old driver failed to stop.

The man was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for high range PCA, expired licence and failing to stop.

He will appear at Campbelltown Local Court on April 17.

Operation Tortoise, which has been targeting drink and drug driving, speeding, fatigue, seatbelt use, mobile-phone use and other forms of dangerous driving, concludes at 11:59pm tonight.
