Familiar face: Robbie Farah, left, in preseason training last week with the South Sydney Rabbitohs. Local fans may get to see him in action on February 11.

Some people claim there are more Souths fans than anyone else in Macarthur apart from Wests Tigers.

Such claims will be put to the test when the South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Manly Sea Eagles face-off in an NRL trial match at Campbelltown Sports Stadium on Saturday, February 11.

And speaking of Wests Tigers fans, there’s another intriguing aspect to this match: Robbie Farah.

The premiership winning Wests Tigers hooker was forced to move on and now wears the red and green of South Sydney.

His appearance may draw some of his Wests Tigers supporters to the February 11 game, adding even more spice to what should be an entertaining clash with old rivals Manly.

The match is the first of two NRL trials which will be held at the stadium in the pre-season.

The action will start from 3.15pm when the North Sydney Bears take on Blacktown Workers in an Intrust Super Premiership NSW trial, followed by the Rabbitohs versus the Sea Eagles at 5.15pm in a Holden Cup trial match.

Fans will also get to experience the strength and endurance of the NSW Physical Disability Rugby League competition at 7pm, a curtain raiser to the main fixture at 7.30pm.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, welcomed the Rabbitohs’ return to the stadium for the first time since 1999, saying he looked forward to a tough match between the 2014 premiers and the Sea Eagles.

[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“These two trial matches are a coup for Campbelltown Sports Stadium, which has a huge schedule planned for this year, including a number of Western Sydney Wanderers matches and our four Wests Tigers home matches,” he said.[/social_quote]

“The footy matches will be a great opportunity for fans to get out and enjoy the atmosphere of a live game of rugby league, as well as the convenience of having a high class venue like Campbelltown Sports Stadium on our doorstep,” he said.

The Wests Tigers will host the second NRL trial match at Campbelltown Sports Stadium a week later, in a Friday night clash against the North Queensland Cowboys, kicking off at 7pm on February 17.

General admission prices for the Rabbitohs versus Sea Eagles match are $10.20 for juniors, $20.40 for adults and $40.80 for a family of four, while premium reserved tickets are $15.30 for juniors, $25.50 for adults and $76.50 for a family of four.

Tickets are on sale through ticketek.com.au, or on game day at the gate. Gates open at 3.10pm.
