A new bike skills track has now been opened to the public in Spring Farm.
Camden Council built the $20,000 track, located off Burrell Road in Spring Farm, after off-road bike enthusiasts put together unapproved tracks across the Camden area.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the track gave riders a safe environment to develop their skills.
“Council is focused on providing residents with facilities and areas to hone their skills,” Cr Fedeli said.
“The new bike skills track is perfect for beginners to learn and practise their skills in the natural environment.
“Mountain biking is also an Olympic sport, and it would be fantastic to have a local athlete representing Australia in the future coming from this track.”
The track, which was built after community consultation with a range of stakeholders earlier this year, is now officially open.

The Alan Baker art gallery’s school holiday program will help keep your kids entertained this summer.
The gallery’s line-up will give local children the chance to let their imagination run wild, with a range of workshops, including:
- Watercolour Leaf Ink and Wash on January 10, Wet Felting on Wednesday, (January 11), Cyanotype Printmaking on Tuesday, January 17, and Mixed Media Self Portrait on Wednesday (January 18).
“Keeping kids entertained during the school holidays can be a challenge, so we are taking the pressure off our local parents and hosting an exciting program,” says Cr Fedeli.
“Kids always love getting creative and this program will be fantastic as they will be run by professionals, and also be educational.
“There will be watercolour, wet felting, printmaking and mixed media classes on the agenda, so I encourage parents to register their children and enjoy the workshops.”
Alan Baker art gallery hosted a Watercolour Christmas Card pop-up workshop last weekend, with another one scheduled for this Saturday, December 17.
