Entries are now open for the Men’s NSW Open regional qualifier to be held in Camden on Saturday, May 20.
This year’s event will be a “stroke play’’ event, incorporated into the Camden Cup, following on from last year’s successful NSW Open Regional Qualifier held in Camden Golf Course.
Last year’s NSW Open regional qualifier marked the first regional golf event to be held in Camden, as part of a three-year partnership between Golf NSW and Camden Council.
This was hailed as a big success by organisers last year and this year is expected to be an even bigger event.
This partnership with Golf NSW aims to increase visitation and support economic development, local businesses and boost tourism in the local area.
Mayor of Camden, Councillor Lara Symkowiak, said she was delighted to see the championships return, highlighting the region’s golfing facilities.
“Providing great sport and recreation opportunities is a priority for council,’’ the mayor said.
“Hosting events like the NSW Open regional qualifier not only leads to increased visitor spending for our region, it also enables us to showcase Camden’s unique and beautiful attractions.
“Council would like to thank Camden Golf Club and Golf NSW for staging the NSW Open regional qualifier event in our thriving area, and all the players who will take part,” Cr Symkowiak said.
Interested golfers can register to play in the event by going to the Camden Golf Club website here.
