There’s not one but two seriously good New Year’s Eve parties in south west Sydney.
Koshigaya Park in Campbelltown and Chipping Norton Lake in Liverpool will have everything that’s on offer in the city except for the overwhelming crowds and a long trip home afterwards.
The local events both have huge entertainment programs on offer as well as giant fireworks displays, making them a serious alternative to travelling to the city.
Indeed Campbelltown Council’s New Year’s Eve party at Koshigaya Park is now considered one of the most popular in metropolitan Sydney, with Liverpool not too far behind.
Koshigaya Park also has the advantage of a central location, which means many of those who attend can either directly walk there or get public transport such as buses and trains.
And everyone will have a front row seat, thanks to a giant screen on the western side of the park, displaying all of the on-stage action.
There will be lots to see and do, with a family friendly carnival, food and merchandise stalls and fireworks at 9pm and again at midnight.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Hawker, said the New Year’s Eve celebrations were one of the city’s most popular community events, offering a “fantastic night’’ of free entertainment for residents of all ages.
[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“Our festivities are a great alternative to Sydney’s crowded CBD, and with less travel time,” Cr Hawker said.[/social_quote]
“Come and enjoy more than five hours of stage entertainment, from high-profile bands to local performers and a children’s show – it’s the perfect event to see in the New Year with all the family.
“The event provides a great opportunity for local residents to celebrate close to home, and for free, in the heart of our city,” Cr Hawker said.
School of Rock Macarthur, Luke Dixon Band, Uptown Funk Band, DJ Dave and Gold Beats are just some of the entertainers performing tomorrow night at Koshigaya Park.
The event is drug and alcohol free, and council says police will be enforcing Alcohol Free Zones – no alcohol of any kind will be permitted in the event area.
♦ Up at Liverpool, the council is putting on shuttle buses to Chipping Norton Lake for its huge New Year’s Eve bash, where X-Factor finalists Jess and Matt will headline heaps of free entertainment on the main stage, as well as rides, free activities for the kids, food stalls and fireworks spectacular.
“We are very proud to have Jess and Matt at our New Year’s Eve event,’’ says Liverpool Mayor Ned Mannoun.
[social_quote duplicate=”no align=”default”]“This is a chance to see one of Australia’s best live acts for free in the wonderful setting of Chipping Norton Lake.[/social_quote]
“Jess Dunbar is a local girl who grew up in Chipping Norton so I know she is excited about performing in front of a home crowd.
“Jess and Matt have a huge local following so come and see them perform their new single Nothing Matters and songs from their new self-titled album.
“We also have one of last year’s X-Factor finalists, Jessica Jade, who was part of girl group Trill, the Gang of Brothers, Dauntless Movement Crew, amazing acrobatic performers, rides, and a huge fireworks display – you won’t find a better line-up of family friendly entertainment anywhere else in Sydney.’’
Free shuttle buses will run on the night from Liverpool Station and Warwick Farm Station to the Lake, which will make it easier for families to get to and from the event.
There is also plenty of free parking at Heron Park on Riverside Drive, which is just an eight minute walk from the event.
“I encourage residents and visitors to come to Chipping Norton and welcome in the New Year in style,” said Mayor Mannoun.
