Police from Macquarie Fields Local Area Command have been told several people were at a home in Haultain Street, Minto, about 9.40pm last night when the incident occurred.
The 11-month-old baby girl, being held by her mother, was injured by melting wax when the tray tipped towards her.
She suffered burns to her face, arms and legs.
Her mother, 28, also sustained burns to face and minor burns to hands and feet.

♦ Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy, Commander of the NSW Traffic & Highway Patrol Command said people needed to take responsibility every time they got into a car this year.
“The year has started badly on NSW roads, after three people died in separate crashes in the early hours of the morning,’’ he said.
“We have now lost 28 lives during Operation Safe Arrival and the holiday period has been nothing short of a tragedy for everyone involved.
“We will continue to target those drivers who are putting everyone at risk; but in order to save lives, the entire community needs to think differently when it comes to road safety.
“Every time you get in a car, whether you are a driver or passenger, take responsibility and make sure others around you are as well,” Assistant Commissioner Corboy said.
