New Tigers: Jordan Rankin and Justin Hunt, right have been recruited by Wests for next season and beyond.

Wests Tigers have announced the signings of backs Justin Hunt and Jordan Rankin as the club continues to strengthen its playing roster for the 2016 season.

Hunt has signed a one year contract, while Rankin’s two year deal secures him until the end of the 2017 season.

Hunt debuted for South Sydney in 2012 and has played a total of 21 NRL games across three clubs, including Parramatta and most recently St George Illawarra.

The 26 year-old played seven NRL games for the Dragons this year and can cover wing or fullback.

Rankin made his first grade debut in 2008 for the Gold Coast Titans, playing a total of 17 NRL matches at the club before departing at the end of 2013 for a stint in Super League with Hull FC.

The 23-year-old can play a range of positions including fullback, five-eighth and halfback.

Wests head coach Jason Taylor said both Rankin and Hunt will bolster the club’s depth next year.

“As a club we are continually looking at improving our depth and the overall quality of our NRL squad,” Taylor said.

“Both Jordan and Justin have plenty of experience which means that the competition for positions in the NRL team will increase next year.

“I know that both players are coming to the club for an opportunity and to fight hard for positions in the team – that’s what we desire.”

Both Hunt and Rankin will join the NRL squad when players return for pre-season training in November.
