Young Raby residents can expect more outdoor fun and adventure – just in time for the school holidays – with the unveiling of a new playground at Raby Sports Complex this Saturday, September 19.
Campbelltown City Council will host a free community event to celebrate the new facility, and is inviting residents and families from across the city to join in the fun, with face painting, a barbecue and giveaways between 11am to 1pm, as well as the chance to be one of the first to try out the new equipment.
The playground, which has been updated as part of council’s renew-connect-revitalise
city wide improvement works program, has been developed based on community feedback and residents’ input into playground designs.
The new, contemporary play space includes play equipment for toddlers to teens, with a rodeo board, bucket swing, slide and climbing equipment.
Renew-connect-revitalise is more than $115 million worth of maintenance and renewal works across Campbelltown over the next decade.
These works will help improve existing city infrastructure and revitalise the city, complemented by an annual capital works program for new projects.
Council has allocated more than $6.1 million to the revitalisation of parks and playgrounds as part of the program, and the Raby Sports Complex facility is the second last of nine projects undertaken during the first year.
Completed playgrounds are located at Abington Reserve, Glen Alpine; Eschol Park Sports Complex; Heathfield Reserve, Raby; Hyacinth Reserve, Macquarie Fields; Ingleburn Reserve; Manooka Reserve, Bradbury and Topaz Reserve, Eagle Vale, with a new facility at Kentlyn Reserve currently under construction.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Lake, said that the renew-connect-revitalise program would ensure that Campbelltown continues to be a great a place to work, live and play.
[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“During the last 12 months, hundreds of renewal projects have been taking place across Campbelltown[/social_quote] City, including playground upgrades and equipment replacement projects totalling more than $790,000,” Cr Lake said.
“It’s part of council’s commitment to providing a range of recreational facilities for residents.
“Local playgrounds are a great way for families to connect in their neighbourhood and council is pleased to invest in improving our parks so that families can enjoy the outdoors, and we can build strong and vibrant communities,” Cr Lake said.
