The new Campbelltown Hospital will literally reach for the sky.

A 15 storey tower – with a helipad on the roof – will be the centrepiece of the hospital’s $632 million stage two upgrade.

As part of the work there will be a new main entry to Campbelltown Hospital from Appin Road, near Narellan Road.

Neighbouring owners and occupiers around the Campbelltown Hospital site have started receiving letters from NSW Health notifying them that the plans for the stage two redevelopment have gone on public exhibition.

They are being informed that the exhibition period for submissions, including objections, is between August 30 and September 26.

The exhibition of the proposal is the fourth of a seven stage process.

It will be followed by responses to submissions, final assessment and determination by the planning minister.

Almost 1,000 jobs will be created during construction, and 2,227 operational jobs on completion.

The project is scheduled to be completed by 2026, the same year passenger planes are expected to be flying in and out of Western Sydney Airport at Badgerys Creek.

As well as the NSW Health mailout to neighbours, Campbelltown Hospital is ramping up its community engagement on the redevelopment.

With fencing going up for work to begin on the new car parks, the hospital is encouraging the local community to get involved and learn more about the “exciting changes that are planned’’.

This month a number of community engagement activities are available for the local community to find out more and be part of the future plans of the hospital.

It includes a drop-in information stall between 11am and 2pm to be held on Thursday, September 6 in the Campbelltown Hospital’s Fresh Café.

There will also be two sessions for consumer focus groups to share ideas about the new paediatric service.

  • 5 September 2018 – 2:30pm to 4pm
  • 6 September 2018 – 2pm to 3:30pm

Limited seats are available for the focus groups so you need to register if you’d like to attend, email SWSLHD-CampbelltownHospitalRedevelopment@health.nsw.gov.au

  1. How we all should be thankful to Gough Whitlam for funding the first stage of this great service to our community and now it will be developed to service the Uni and the whole MacArthur region
