As part of the transformation of Mt Annan Leisure Centre, renewal works for the aquatic facilities will mean the swimming pool will be closed to the public for six weeks.

The current pool is 15 years old and is in need of upgrade works, says Camden Council.

The swimming pool and facilities within the pool area will be closed from April 26, with works scheduled to be completed and the pool reopened on June 5.

Members will be contacted by centre management about discounted rates to compensate for possible inconvenience created during the works.

Improvements to the existing pool facilities will bring the project cost to a total of $14 million and include upgrades to change rooms, installation of new pool pumps and other repair and maintenance works. “Delivering new sport and recreational facilities is a major part of council’s community focus,’’ says the mayor, Cr Lara Symkowiak.

“This is an exciting project that will support the health and wellbeing of our residents now and into the future.

“Council and the YMCA, who operate the facility, will continue to provide regular updates and keep the community engaged in this upgrade process,” Cr Symkowiak said.

Work continues on the leisure centre upgrade and expansion with the construction of new amenities, multipurpose sports hall, the expansion of the child care facilities, additional car parking and upgrades to the entry foyer, kiosk and change rooms are all well on track.

When completed, the Mt Annan Leisure Centre will be one of the best multi purpose hubs in the region.
