Fighting on: MP Greg Warren

A local MP has vowed to continue to fight against planned closures of local Roads and Maritime Services offices.

The NSW Government has confirmed this week that the Campbelltown Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) office will close by the end of the year to make way for a one-stop service centre at Gregory Hills – more than 20 minutes’ drive from the current Campbelltown office in Tindall Street, which enjoys a central location.

Campbelltown Labor MP Greg Warren today promised to continue to fight to ensure that Campbelltown residents remained able to access RMS services.

“The government has made this decision without any community consultation whatsoever, and frankly I can understand why the people of Campbelltown aren’t happy about it.” Mr Warren said.

“Disturbingly, it appears that the process of making this decision started back in 2013, and in the two years since not once have the people of Campbelltown had a chance to have their say.”

“The most important thing is making sure that Campbelltown residents don’t lose access to any services as a result of this change.

The closure of Campbelltown RMS office and opening of the Service NSW Centre in Gregory Hills are both scheduled to occur in November.

Part of the plan also calls for the closure of the Ingleburn office of RMS, located across from the railway station.
