The Federal Member for Macarthur, Russell Matheson,  welcomed beyondblue’s big blue bus and National Roadshow team to Macarthur on Sunday, and offered his support by making a mental health pledge.

“With three million Australians currently experiencing depression and anxiety—half of which are not seeking help, it is vital that everyone looks after their mental wellbeing, and be aware that support is available through charities like beyondblue,” Mr Matheson said.

“The National Roadshow campaign has done some great work in getting the message out.

“It also offers an opportunity for people to find out more about depression and anxiety, and chat to beyondblue staff and local health service providers about the services on offer.

“By taking a mental health pledge, I have made a written commitment to look after my mental and physical health and keep active.

“I encourage everyone to take part in this initiative and start thinking about the things that make you feel healthier, more fulfilled and connected,” Mr Matheson said.

Rugby league star Darius Boyd and his wife Kayla were part of the roadshow when it arrived at Macarthur on the weekend. Boyd is an ambassador of Northside Clinic but was invited to offer his support to the national roadshow campaign.

To date, beyondblue’s National Roadshow has travelled 41,000kms over the past 18 months, visiting nearly 200 towns and suburbs throughout Australia so far.
