Call on insurance companies to play ball on flood damage claims.
MP Greg Warren says insurance companies should ensure they pay legitimate flood damage claims quickly.

Macarthur continues the big clean up after the weekend storm that caused massive damage in parts of the region.

Worst hit was Picton, with many main street businesses suffering devastating water damage.

Camden is also recovering as the Nepean River recedes but there are now calls for a second flood free bridge access into the town.

There was only one way into the town in the wake of the massive rainfall.

The other aspect of the floods is the assessment of the damage, and with that in mind the State Member for Campbelltown Greg Warren MP has written to the Insurance Council of Australia calling on them to ensure claims are processed as efficiently as possible.

“The region has weathered the epicentre of the weekend storms leaving homes and businesses with a big clean up job,’’ Mr Warren said.

“The weather over the weekend has been absolutely horrendous with widespread damage across the region.

“I want the insurance companies to know my concerns as to the effect delays will have in terms of payments of legitimate claims by local families who have suffered house, car and other property damage as a result of this storm.

“I have written to the Insurance Council of Australia making it clear that I expect claims to be paid out in full and on time so people can get back on their feet and get on with their lives.

“Insurance companies are very good at collecting money and I am making it clear to all of them that customers now have every right to expect claims to be processes in a timely and efficient manner.

“We have residents across the region who have suffered major damage to houses, cars, businesses and other property and this is traumatic enough without having to have and difficulties getting claims processed to get back in their feet.

“There are no reports yet of customers having difficulties but we have seen in the past problems arise and I am making it clear to all insurance companies that this won’t be tolerated after this weather event,’’ Mr Warren said.
