We need more testing, vaccination clinics in Campbelltown, says local MP

State MP Greg Warren wants the state government to open more vaccination centres and Covid-19 testing clinics in Campbelltown.

He says the shortage of clinics across outer South Western Sydney is concerning, but particularly so in his Campbelltown electorate.

Campbelltown, which is one of eight hotspot local government areas in Greater Sydney, has also been in the news over nine Covid-19 infections among residents of an apartment block in Warby Street near the town centre.

Mr Warren says that while the declaration of Campbelltown as a hotspot has caused angst in the community, most residents have been largely understanding of the measures put in place.

However, they are less understanding of the scarcity of local vaccination and testing clinics.

“I have spoken to many constituents who have had to queue for significant periods for a Covid-19 test, while others have experienced extensive delays in getting their vaccinations booked in,’’ he says.

Mr Warren has now written to the health minister to ask for more clinics in Campbelltown, both for Covid-19 testing and vaccinations.

“It would be appreciated if you could please provide advice regarding what plans the government has to increase these services,’’ he writes in the letter to Mr Hazzard.

“I respectfully urge you to ensure the community of Campbelltown is not left waiting when it comes to vaccinations or testing clinics.

“As I’m sure you appreciate, the magnitude and seriousness of this situation has certainly been acknowledged by constituents in Campbelltown.

“I certainly share their frustrations with the lack of support and resources that have been afforded to our community.

“All we want is to ensure that the supply of vaccinations and Covid-19 testing clinics match the demand of local residents.’’

  1. I think it is disturbing that where a hotspot and I have to wait one month to get my first injection. I do not drive and am hesitant at the moment to catch public transport. Campbelltown is a big place and we need the resources to fight this
