balletThe Melbourne Ballet Company will perform at Casula Powerhouse theatre this weekend when it brings its production of Divenire to the south west of Sydney.

Divenire is a striking show of precision and impressive athleticism, which features four works created by resident choreographer Simon Hoy and internationally recognised dancemaker Tim Podesta.
They include Dark Before Daylight,  a powerful new impression of the classic story of Swan Lake. It is choreographed by Simon Hoy and set to the music of Edward Elgar.

From a Dream, choreographed by Tim Podesta, is a performance based on the character of Titania in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Titania is a very proud creature and as formidable as her husband Oberon.

Podesta’s interpretation is beautifully told through breathtaking movement set to the music by Olafur Arnalds.

The third work, On Air, is a pure dance work inspired by our fundamental human interdependence.

It’s choreographed by Simon Hoy, with music by Claude Debussy.

Finally, Horizon Variation: this pas de deux is an excerpt from the ballet titled Horizon Variation, inspired by a poem of Marina Tsvetaeva, Maria the Poet, choreographed by Simon Hoy to the music of Max Richter.

Divenire is choreographed by Simon Hoy to music by Italian composer Ludovico Einaudi.

This piece of contemporary ballet is inspired by the notion of a constantly unfolding reality and is made up of three movements; 1st – White Cloud, 2nd – In Another Life and the 3rd Divenire (to become).
