Most people are fascinated by firemen and women and once a year we get the chance to meet them to find out what they are like.
The annual Fire & Rescue NSW Open Day is that day, and this year it’s tomorrow, Saturday, May 30.
Between 10am and 2pm, more than 330 fire stations across NSW will throw open their doors so the public they serve can pop in and say hello and see first hand how firies operate.
Firefighters will provide safety demonstrations, fire prevention advice, fire station tours and families will get the chance to inspect firefighting equipment and trucks which are used when responding to fires and other emergencies.
Member for Holsworthy Melanie Gibbons is encouraging the local community to meet their local firefighters and check out Liverpool fire station.
“We rely on our firefighters to be there when we need them,’’ the MP says.
“They put themselves in danger in order to keep us safe.
[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“They do an incredible job that we often take for granted,” Ms Gibbons said.[/social_quote]
“I invite the community to take a tour of their local fire station, meet the firefighters and learn about fire safety from the experts.”
Liverpool Fire Station is on Anzac Road, on the corner of Delfin Drive, Moorebank.
Liverpool Fire Station will also be raising money for the NSW Kids in Need charity, an umbrella organisation raising money for six children’s charities close to the hearts of firefighters.
