The annual NSW Rural Fire Service open day this Saturday is an opportunity for residents to meet the firies who may save their homes this summer.

There’s a lot more to it, but that’s one good enough reason for the state member for Campbelltown, Bryan Doyle, to get behind the day.

“The annual RFS annual open day is a great chance for residents of Campbelltown to meet the everyday heroes who devote their time to protecting our community from day to day,” Mr Doyle said.

“As we come into bushfire season, the open day is also an excellent opportunity to understand the bushfire risk in their area and how they can prepare themselves, their homes and families.”

At their local station people will find something for all the family including fire demonstrations and the opportunity to climb on a fire truck.

Visitors will get advice on preparing their property and completing a Bush Fire Survival Plan and have photos taken with your local firefighters

At some locations there may be displays by other emergency services, jumping castles, face painting, and sausage sizzles.

“Open days are being held at Minto Heights Station, Lynwood Park Station and Wedderburn Station,” Mr Doyle said.

“I would encourage the community to head down to one of the three stations hosting open days in our area to show their support,” Mr Doyle said.
