Campbelltown Mayor Darcy Lound has been a little nervous since his wife Rebekah told him she was planning to jump out of a plane for her 50th birthday.
“It’s a bucket list thing for my darling wife, but I think I’m more nervous than she is,’’ he admitted a few days before Mrs Lound was due to tick that bucket list item on her birthday, which falls on December 27.
However, the plan had to be postponed because the weather was unsuitable, and a new date was set, Saturday, January 4 near Wollongong.
The jump went ahead, Rebekah (pictured above) landed safely, and Darcy Lound could finally relax.
Oh, and congratulations to Rebekah for her 50th birthday from all of us here at the South West Voice!

We hear that Woodland Road Public School have enrolled triplet brothers for kindergarten in 2025.
But these aren’t your run of the mill triplets, according to our source.
Apparently, the triplets can read “chapter books” and are bilingual, French and English.
And what’s more, two of them want to be in the same class, while the third one has declared he wants to be on his own.

A memorial ride will be held for Terry “Tezza’’ Diomis this Sunday, January 12 from Onslow Oval.
Camden Cycle Club is promoting the ride on its Facebook page and is inviting anyone who came across the great man to go along on Sunday and help celebrate his life.
Tezza passed away almost two years ago, on January 15, 2023, his sudden death shocking the Macarthur region.
He was one of a kind who wished nothing but the best for everyone around him.
Cycling was one of his passions, as was his involvement with the Macarthur Greeks in the last few years before he died.
Sunday’s memorial ride will set out at 7am from the tennis court side of Onslow Oval at Camden and head to Burragorang Lookout before returning to Camden Valley Inn for breakfast.

Ingleburn Chamber of Commerce has paid tribute to one of its longest serving members, Libero (Fred) Soldatic, who passed away in November last year.
“Fred was born in Croatia in 1938 and came to Australia as a teenager. He moved to Ingleburn with his wife Daisy in 1968,’’ says the chamber tribute.
“He joined the Ingleburn Chamber of Commerce in 1973 and continued as a very strong member up until his declining health forced him to step back.
“He was awarded life membership of the chamber for his strong involvement and support for the local area.
“During his time with the chamber Fred was consistently on the board in various capacities – president, treasurer, secretary and director.
“He was one of the main advocates for the Ingleburn Alive festival (famous for the thong throwing and wheelbarrow races) and for the establishment of the Ingleburn Policing Centre.
“Fred also campaigned strongly for Ingleburn’s outdoor café dining. He was very proud of the outdoor dining in Ingleburn as it reminded him of Europe.’’
