Talented cook and former Masterchef contestant Amina Elshafei will cook up a storm at the November 1 Liverpool Night Markets.
Amina will lead two half-hour cooking demonstrations at the Benevolent Society’s Taste Mobile Kitchen.
The paediatric nurse was the first Muslim contestant on Masterchef and was one of the most popular for her bubbly personality and her repertoire of delicious, Middle Eastern inspired dishes.
“I’m really excited about coming to Liverpool for the Night Markets in November,” Ms Elshafei said.
“I’ll be cooking fresh, delicious dishes that people will be able to make at home.
“I’m also really pleased to be cooking from the Taste Mobile Kitchen, a great initiative which supports community activities.”
It’s another great foodie event this Good Food Month in the Liverpool area, along with Sweet As and Pacifica at the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre. More about the Taste Community Kitchen here: www.benevolent.org.au/think/doing–things–differently/taste–food–tours/mobile–kitchen
The sound of music will also be in the air this month with market-goers invited on stage to sing their hearts out with street karaoke and more, and Karaoke Massage is back by popular demand.
Other highlights include:
Performance by recent Triple J Unearthed finalist and indie pop singer Angelena Locke;
A petting zoo, jumping castle and special story times at the pop-up library for the kids;
More market stalls including one of a kind, locally sourced handbags and accessories from So Jealous, luxurious candles from CandleBar and artisan foodstuffs from Porters Produce;
Delicious food from Authentic Turkish Cuisine, Mamma’s Jerk Chicken, Yan’s Asian Caterer, Cucina 105 (gelato and locally roasted coffee), Parilla Argenchino Catering, Gourmandise de Paris and more.
The Liverpool Night Markets continue to offer families a night of fantastic entertainment and unique local experiences, says Liverpool mayor Ned Mannoun.
“The November Night Markets promises to be a real treat for the senses, with Amina Elshafei cooking delicious dishes, plus the sounds of live music and street karaoke. Now that the days are longer and the weather is getting warmer, it’s a wonderful way to spend a Saturday evening. With more market stalls and food, come down to see what all the talk is about.”
The markets are held on the first Saturday of every month in Macquarie Street between 4pm and 9pm and are part of Liverpool City Council’s plans to boost the city’s night time economy and make Liverpool a more exciting place to live and work.
