Grab your bikes and helmets and have some fun – the annual Ready to Ride Day is barely two weeks away.
This free community event is held during NSW Bike Week to promote bicycle safety and the health benefits of cycling.
Campbelltown City Council organises the day.
This year’s event will be held at Marsden Park in Campbelltown from 10am to midday on Sunday, September 17.
Marsden Park features a shared off-road cycleway, and aims to deliver health and environmental benefits through its connection to a network of on-road and off-road cycle ways.
Ready to Ride Day combines bike safety education with fun activities for riders of all ages and abilities, including a road safety quiz with prizes, bike skills course, free bike maintenance checks, fun children’s activities and a healthy morning tea.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, said Ready to Ride Day was a great way to get some exercise and learn about bike safety, while enjoying the company of family and friends.
“There’ll be lots of fun, family friendly activities on offer at Marsden Park on the day, including free face painting, a jumping castle and balance bike riding, and the opportunity to ensure your family’s bikes are in good working order,” he said.
Council also provides a permanent educational facility to help riders of all ages gain confidence on two wheels.
The Campbelltown Bicycle and Road Safety Education Centre is located off King Street, Campbelltown and features an off-road cycleway, including traffic lights, roundabouts and road signs, and programs to teach children about road rules and bicycle safety.
The centre holds regular open days, and can be booked for birthday parties or for school and community groups.
