Man, youth charged over armed robberies of fast food outlets

Police have charged a man and a youth after two armed robberies at Minto in the past four weeks.

Officers from Macquarie Fields investigating both incidents at first arrested a 16-year-old boy last Saturday, January 7.

He was charged with two counts of robbery while armed with dangerous weapon.

The youth was refused bail to appear at a children’s court last Sunday, January 8.

He was again refused bail to reappear at a children’s court next Monday, January 16.

Following further inquiries by investigating police, about 3.45pm yesterday (Monday, January 9), a search warrant was executed at a home on Cradle Way, Minto.

Police allegedly located and seized a replica pistol and clothing during the search of the property.

An 18-year-old man was arrested at the location and taken to Macquarie Fields Police Station where he was charged with two counts of robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon.

He was refused bail and was due to appear at Campbelltown Local Court some time today.

It is alleged that about 8.30pm on Friday, December 16 last year, two males allegedly armed with a knife and a handgun entered the Subway fast food store on Stonny Batter Road, which is located in the Minto industrial area.

It’s alleged the pair threatened the employees and demanded money, before fleeing the location with cash.

Police will also allege that at about 8.40pm on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, two males allegedly armed with a knife and a handgun entered a restaurant on Redfern Road, also in Minto.
