Man faces court over water meters

A man will face court after copper and water meters were stolen in the Smeaton Grange area this month.

About 9.30pm yesterday, July 25, two men aged 25 and 27, and an 18-year-old woman parked a car outside a construction site on Anderson Avenue and allegedly entered the area.

Officers attached to Camden Local Area Command were alerted and attended, arresting the older man and the woman. The second man attempted to flee the scene; however was arrested nearby a short time later.

Police searched the Commodore, where they allegedly seized prohibited drugs and a receipt.

The trio was taken to Camden Police Station where the 25-year-old man was charged with larceny, possess prohibited drug and enter enclosed land.

He was refused bail and was listed to appear at Parramatta Local Court today, Saturday, July 26.

Police allege the incident is linked to similar incidents at numerous construction sites in the Smeaton Grange area where copper pipe and water meters were stolen. The incidents date back to Tuesday 22 July 2014.
